Here is the Crime Update for week ending 2nd August. The report is now more general to give you an idea of crime trends within the borough.

On Melton Town South Beat there were two incidents of arson with rubbish being set alight, this caused damage to a fences, decking and trees.
Burglary – non dwelling
In the past week there have been instances of retail premises being burgled in the town centre.
On Melton rural north beat items relating to show jumping were stolen.
Burglary – dwelling
In Melton town centre we have had reports of a tv being stolen from a secure property and a further report of an office being broken into.
On Melton town north beat there was a report of a burglary from an insecure outbuilding. Please ensure outbuilding are locked / secure.
On Melton town south we had a report of a burglary with entrance being gained via an unlocked door.
On Melton rural south beat a secure property was broken into by removing glass from the front door.
We are still having reports of thefts from vehicles. Please ensure that all items of value are removed from your vehicle and that your vehicle is left secure.
On Melton Rural south beat there have been reports of thefts from shops and refuse tips. On the north beat we have had a several reports of items being stolen from shops.
There has been an instance of theft from a business on Melton town south.
On Melton town south there has been an incident of males knocking at the door of an elderly person and claiming money was owed for work done.
If you have elderly vulnerable family members please reiterate to them about not answering the door to people they do not know and more importantly not to hand over money to people claiming they are owed money.
