Oakham & Barleythorpe – As reported using social media sites Oakham, Barleythorpe and Rutland have unfortunately noticed a rise in recorded crime surrounding burglaries. With this information an operation named Op Hexagon has been developed in Rutland to tackle travelling criminality. We border Linconshire, Northamptonshire and Cambridgeshire and it is our understanding that crimes are being committed by criminals from these areas. We are working with Cross Border crime units and officers from Market Harborough and Melton Mowbray (Eastern NPA), to tackle this issue.
Rutland North/South - We will continue to tackle the issues of hare coursing, criminal damage to land and crops, and theft with targeted High visibility patrols on both Rutland North and Rutland South beats. With the use of the new ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) camera, which is being used for Op Galileo and to target the increase in Burglaries on the South of Rutland we have arrested and charged a person in connection to these breaks. We are working closely with the local residents and farmers who continue to help our efforts and offer support to this issue and ask that if anything suspicious is seen to report through 101.
Uppingham - Hare coursing, criminal damage to land and crops, burglaries and theft are some of the issues Uppingham has faced in recent times. This is an issue for the rural community and we will look to conduct regular targeted patrols and joint cross border work with both Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire Police around these issues. As a beat team, we have created Op Hexagon to co-ordinate our attempts at reducing this issue and tackle those responsible for causing harm.
