Dear Members of Oadby,
Hello, hope you all are well? I received some results from the Police Road Safety Unit that they did recent speed checks on Granville Road in Oadby. The checks were conducted between 30/06/18 to 07/07/18 and the Speed limit for Granville Road is obviously 30mph.
Total number of vehicles checked were 3996
The ‘Mean’ which is the average of the number of vehicles speed checked is 32.3mph
68% of the total number were above the speed limit of 30mph
5% of drivers were going 15mph above the speed limit
38.2% were above the ACPO threshold (Association of Chief Police Officers)
From the above results does show that a high percentage of drivers were going above the speed limit. Therefore the local Police team will be monitoring the area and will be conducting further checks in the future. We are in the process of obtaining 30mph wheelie bin stickers which we encourage residents to stick onto their bins so when residents put their bins out on bin day the street will clearly be lit with the 30mph sign and will educate the road users about the speed limits. We will also be using social media to educate road users to control their speed via Facebook and Twitter. I will keep you all updated and if you need to speak to us about any concerns please speak to the beat team who will be happy to help.
Thanks for your support.
