Dear Members of South Leicester
Hello, hope you all are well. It has been sometime I have not updated you on what your local beat teams are doing for South Leicester. We have been extremely busy during the Halloween and Bonfire week. There has been a few incidents of youths throwing eggs at people and cars including a couple of incidents involving fireworks but this was very quickly tackled by your local beat team. I hope you all didn’t have too much disruption on this.
The Police are doing additional patrols within Eyres Monsell and the Saffron Est with concerns with Knife Crime. We are working with communities and local partners to try and tackle this issue. We have placed an Amnesty surrender bin in the Eyres Monsell Community centre and a lot of work has been put into this under Op Elapse.
We have unfortunately had a spate of burglary on our area between 09th & 10th Nov. The areas that were hit are listed below. Entry was gained at the rear of the property with forced entry to lower panels of rear door.
- Hillcrest Road Knighton – Garage Break
- Kingsmead Close Knighton
- Queens Road Knighton
- Northdene Road Knighton – Suspect was disturbed no entry gained
- Gartree Road Oadby
- Lorraine Road Aylestone
- Cranfield Road Aylestone
- Bowood Court Aylestone
- Southfields Drive Eyres Monsell
Unfortunately I cannot go into too much detail but if you were in those areas during the 9th or 10th and seen anything unusual then please let me know. Please make use of window alarms and stick them on your lower panels of your rear door as this could scare criminals away if an alarm is activated.
We have had a few Theft from Motor Vehicle overnight 12/11/18. Majority of the theft from motor vehicles occurred on Wigston and Aylestone. However good news is that a member of public had a camera doorbell which had motion detection on. The victim saw a suspect on his motion activation and immediately confronted the suspicious suspect. The suspect managed to escape but left his belongings (bag) behind. On Police arrival we searched the bag to find the suspects ID and other stolen items which we have managed to locate the victims for. The suspect male was immediately arrested for the series of Theft of Motor Vehicle and is being dealt with in Police custody. It just shows the power in Camera Doorbells have when the notifications were set correctly as it notified the victim instantly on his smart phone when the suspect was trying car doors.
Just a quick TOP TIP from Leicestershire Fire & Rescue. To avoid electrical fires from extension leads just follow this simple rule. The fuses you get inside 3pin plugs are 3, 5 and 13 AMP fuses. A television takes 3 amps, a vacuum cleaner would take 5amps and a washing machine takes 13 amps. On an extension lead know your limit and stick to a total of 13amps per lead. So for example have 5+5+3=13amp. 13amp appliances should be plugged in directly to the wall and not shared on an extension lead as plugging in other appliances would overload the extension and risk of fire.
