PCSO of the year award 2020 sharing good news

Hello. Hope you are well and thanks for being part of Burbage Neighbourhood Link https://www.neighbourhoodlink.co.uk/ . This year we have grown from 200 members in Burbage to over 1700. I really hope you enjoy the updates and we hope the crime prevention information and raising awareness helps to keep reducing crime in the area.

Just thought I would share some good news with you. This year I have won the Police Community Support Officer of the year award for Leicestershire Police.

I have been nominated for the award for the last three years so I am really proud to have won it this year. It has been a very difficult year for many of us this year, each person having their own circumstances and situations to deal with in the best way we can. I hope I have been of support if you have needed our help.

I have worked in Burbage as a PCSO for nearly four years. I have met and got to know many residents. I have built relationships with local businesses and Schools to try to support the local community to ensure Burbage stays a great place to live.

I applied for the job as PCSO as I wanted a job that I could make a difference to people’s lives. Supporting residents in potentially their lowest moments, resolving issues before they become all-consuming and trying to guide people onto the right path when they make mistakes or bad decisions. This is all part of the job that I hope is remembered.

Much of my work involves supporting with investigating local crime, working with partner agencies, identifying safeguarding concerns, youth engagement, supporting with the resolution of local issues, patrols in Burbage, pro-active crime prevention activities, Events and victim support.

Burbage is a fantastic place to be and I have met many amazing residents with their own stories. Like anywhere, there can be local concerns but by working together, being kind, compassionate and maintaining our community spirit I am sure we can all help each other. Thank you for the support we receive from you. The kind comments and engagements with you all are really appreciated.
