Good Evening Citizen

2020 for the neighbourhood team, policing in general, along with everyone in the country, has been a challenging year.

In January 2020, no one could have predicted how the year would pan out and it certainly wasn't something we had planned for.

But, as always in policing, we adapted what we did, took on the challenge and I believe that South Leicester Neighbourhood Team stepped up to the challenge.

The Covid 19 pandemic meant extensive demand for our time and effort, but we continued our daily business on top of this.

In 2020, South Leicester Neighbourhood Team also
• Conducted a Burglary Operation through September, October and November to combat our seasonal rise in Burglaries. This is something we have ran for the last 3 years and our burglary figures continue to fall.
• Enforced numerous drug warrants, leading to offenders being convicted of supply and possession offences.
• Ran a violent crime operation during December, targeting our high risk offenders, in particular knife carriers, but also worked with partner agencies to ensure children who were deemed vulnerable to getting involved in these sort of activities were engaged with and provided long term support.
• Provided cover to force operations including policing the reopen of pubs and bars and the policing events throughout the year.
• Moved to a new operating model, meaning more emphasis on local policing.
• Continued with what we do best, catch our offenders and put them in front of the courts, protect the vulnerable and provide a visible presence on our streets.

So as we move into a new year, I am confident that South Leicester Neighbourhood Team will continue to serve our community to the best of their ability.
