Information sent on behalf of Leicestershire Police

Hello. Thanks for taking 5 minutes to read this update. We hope you find them useful.

Stolen registration plates from a vehicle on Applebee road 08/01/2021 at 11:45. Please continue to report suspicious activity to 101. VRM anti-theft screws can be purchased online for a few pound. I do have a small supply for free if you do want some, get in touch.

Report of Suspicious activity on sketchley road and a report on primrose drive on 13/01/2021 at 01:25. An eagle eyed resident saw the suspicious male in the area. It appears the character was scared off by some sensor lights that came on. Please continue to review your security especially around items in garages and sheds. Don’t leave items unlocked. You can register your possessions for free via https://www.immobilise.com/ Also consider sensor alarms and “alarm stickers” or anything visual to deter criminals.

“I have just receive a text purporting to be from HSBC regarding a new payee request. It gives a link to click on to authorise.........
HSBC is NOT my bank so yet another scam I fear.
    Please warn residents”

Please don’t click on links from unknown sources and never give personal details such as bank details and PIN numbers.

Community News, Covid Feedback From Residents

I have received several comments regarding Covid restrictions and effects noticed by residents in Burbage.

We would like to say that we are thankful for the efforts of the many residents who are experiencing many challenges at the moment and are following the government guidelines. It is a difficult time for many and we all have our own concerns and situations to manage the best we can.

Please continue to support those in desperate need, have empathy, respect and understanding for those around you. Look after your own physical and mental health and support those close to you. This is what has made Burbage a great place to live.

Whilst out patrolling the village, I have spoken to residents of all ages with concerns and anxieties around the current situation. I hope I have been of some support, re-assurance or guidance to you. If you are unsure of the current guidelines or have any questions please visit the government website https://www.gov.uk/guidance/national-lockdown-stay-at-home

If there is someone you know who is lonely, please give them a call. Please also be aware of the resident support scheme from Hinckley and Bosworth Council https://www.hinckley-bosworth.gov.uk/info/200377/coronavirus/1639/resident_support_scheme

Some concerns raised by residents include the increase of traffic in the village including on street parking. If you have any visitors (carers, bubbles etc.) please ask them to park considerately to ensure residents can access their homes and that members of the public are not having to walk on the road due to pavement parking.

Other concerns raised include footpaths/fields being overcrowded. We have around 17000 residents in Burbage which covers around 4 square miles (if my maths are correct). If you notice the times you are going out are busy, see if you can go out a bit earlier or later. Please consider that certain times may be busier than others such as School times or weekends.

There are also lots of beautiful walks in the village so perhaps looks for some unknown routes.

Exercise and a bit of fresh air is fantastic for mental health. The NHS website has lots of good information around this https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/stress-anxiety-depression/exercise-for-depression/

We hope you find these updates useful. If you would like anything different, please drop me a reply.

    Thank you and take care.
